Message from the PresidentHi Everyone, I know it's short notice, but please sign up for the 2025 Nor Cal Escrow Education Conference - which is on July 19th. We changed it to a 1 day event in hopes we can get more attendees. The AEA Conference was in early June in Las Vegas - great venue and TERRIFIC education! They work very hard to put together a fantastic annual business meeting and conference. Phenomenal speakers were in abundance! Unfortunately the turnout was much lower than anticipated. Please make an effort to get to their conference in 2026 - our own Rosanna Medeiros is the 2025-2026 AEA president and Colleen Graves is the president elect for 2026-2027. Yay for California involvement - more are needed! Escrow practitioners can't get all the education they need for well-rounded knowledge of our industry from their employers. Believe me, I know. Education must come from all sources. CEA educational offers other thoughts, ideas, opinions and facts that we NEED to know to service our clients and companies better and have a working knowledge of our industries. Networking with others in our escrow community help us to grow intellectually and emotionally in our chosen profession. It's nice to bounce ideas off of others and to know that you are not on some island, abandoned and wondering if others are having the same successes or struggles you are. Our FinCEN committee has been very busy reviewing and responding to requests for more information from FinCEN. We forwarded a joint response letter with EIC - Escrow Institute of California in February and other one on 7/7/25 on the new anti-money laundering Rule that will affect all escrow practitioners across America. As of this writing it is still scheduled to take effect on 12/1/25. You better be ready, just in case the lawsuits to stop it are defeated. The many minds on our Bill Review Committee have been busy reading all the bills with Mike Belote and Cliff Costa guiding the way. They are all doing an INCREDIBLE JOB! Our education committee, under the leadership of Teresa Schiaretti has done a phenomenal job at providing several educational opportunities this year via Zoom, including a 2 part mobilehome class and Bulk Sale classes to boot. A PD test prep course provided by Janeane Arildsen helped prepare those members to take their PD designation test to show their commitment to being in the TOP of their profession. We should have some new PD holders by the end of the year! Conference is going to be FANTASTIC (as usual) with incredible educational content and networking opportunities. Save October 24 and 25 for the Hyatt Regency, in Irvine. Please spread the news to sign up on our CEA Website. This year will include a beginners Bootcamp on Saturday morning which will include their attendance at the Saturday afternoon sessions of conference as well. The CEA website has had several small changes to it - especially on the home page. We're looking at more upgrades to the site and the information on it. Elections for the 2026 Executive committee members is coming up at the Sacramento Board of Directors meeting on 8/2/25. 2026 CEA Dues motion has been submitted by the membership committee and will be discussed and voted on at that same meeting. Any member of CEA is allowed to sit in on our BOD meeting. If you stay for lunch there is a $35 fee and, unless called upon, you have no voice to speak. We are surging ahead in our endeavors and hope that we can bring some more members along with us. Once you join a committee and feel the passion and commitment of other CEA members, you'll be hooked, just like I was back in 1986!! Until next time. Take care and have a FABULOUS summer! Sincerely, your 2025 President, Sharon Strahlendorf, CSEO, CEI, CMHS Email Your President!
